"Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is Good"
We thank someone for taking a message for us. We thank a person for giving us a paper we left on the copier. We thank them for their help with a project. We say “thanks” all day to people we like, to those we love, and even to those we don't like very much. So why don't we take a moment to thank the Lord? After all, He's the source of our lives, our talents...of everything we have and everything we are. If you want to make it a habit to give thanks to the Lord more often, it just takes making it a habit to think of Him first. Here are some ideas... When you wake up, as you lay in bed...before you start thinking of that long list of things to do, thank God for the peaceful night He gave you, for keeping you and the ones you love safe. Even if you didn't have a good night's sleep, you were safe and in His care. As you get up and go through your morning routine, thank Him for all He's given you: your family and friends...the food you'll eat during the day...the talents He's given you...even the air and water! There's so much to be thankful for! As you get ready to head out into the world, thank Him for the transportation He's provided and for watching over you and keeping you safe while you travel and go about your business. At work, there are plenty of aggravations, I know. But this is the time to thank Him again for the talents He gave you. Ask Him for help and strength to do a good job to make Him proud. Ask Him for guidance. Thank Him for the office friends He gave you that lighten your load. As things go your way during the day, just say a quick "Thank you Lord," in recognition that you couldn't have done it without Him. At the end of the day, go through the same process... Thank Him for giving you strength and for the "wins"...both small and large...that He gave you. Thank Him for keeping you safe on the way home and for keeping your friends and family safe as well. At the end of the day, as you're ready to fall asleep thank Him again for all He gave you during the day and for the peaceful night He'll be giving you. Ask for Him to watch over your family and friends and hold all of you in the palm of His hand.
Soon, you'll be giving thanks to the Lord all day!
