"What void Are You trying to fill through excessive work?"

You typically think of someone who overeats when you hear the word “glutton.” But the dictionary uses “a glutton for work” as the example of the definition for glutton -- “a great capacity for something.”

Are you a glutton? Do you have a “great capacity” for work?

Most conscientious and dedicated people put in a lot of hours on the job. People who are self-employed put in a lot of time too. Is it necessary? Are their other ways you could organize your work so you’re not putting in so much time?

Do you complain that you’re working hard and putting in tons of hours but other people aren’t?

Are they being punished in some way?

So what does that tell you?

You may feel that you can’t start saying “no” to more work but you probably can. You just need to find a way to do it without losing your temper or getting into an argument.

If you really can’t say “no,” why?

Is there some internal mechanism or thought process that keeps you locked into this cycle of gluttony?

What is empty in your life that you’re trying to fill through work?

Are you spiritually starving?
