Some Resources & Tools to Help You Live Your Faith at Work and in Life
Here are some resources you might find helpful in your quest to create a faith-centered career and life.
BooksThe Congruent LifeI first read this book in the mid- to late '90s. Some people don't like it but I thought it was very powerful. It really helped me see that what I wanted and what I had were very different. It took me a few more years to get up the courage to do something about it.Stages of the SoulThis beautiful little book helped me understand the root of career dissatisfaction. I really believe the unhappiness we feel is caused by several things -- one of which is our soul crying out over the misalignment between our God-given mission and what we're actually doing. This book helped me articulate that. How Full is Your BucketAnother insightful little book. This gem is from Tom Rath and his grandfather, the late Donald O. Clifton. It's just incredibly powerful. It explains the power of negativity and the opportunity we all have to be forces for good in our lives, including at work. The truth is that negativity kills. Literally. This book can help you see the need to get negativity out of your life and how you can change your behavior to be even more positive. Now, Discover Your StrengthsMarcus Buckingham and the late Donald O. Clifton share the first book based on The Gallup Organizations' study of millions of people and their strengths. A great book that helps readers identify their strengths and sort of gives you permission to focus on those strengths. It encourages you to grow your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Now, if only the corporate universe would embrace this concept.I had been encouraging clients to pick this up but I'll start recommending the new version (Strengthsfinder 2.0...see below). Strengthsfinder 2.0The updated version of Strengthsfinder and book. I haven't read this version yet beyond the sampling on Amazon's website; but what I saw looked very good. Author, Tom Rath, has included tips on how to use your particular strengths category in your life with a focus on balance.
