Don’t Let Anger Build a Wall Between You and a Coworker...

...or More Importantly...Between You and God.

There are so many things that can make us angry at work.

People criticize our performance and, when our feelings are hurt, we can get angry. Someone forgets to give us information we needed and that makes us angry.

And then there are the customers...

So are we as Chrstians supposed to control our temper and never get angry?

Of course not.

The Bible doesn't say "Don't get angry." Jesus never said "Don't get angry." As a matter of fact, he got angry himself -- He called the Pharisees "hypocrites" and overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple. Yes, Jesus got angry.

Jesus gave us a lot of instruction on how to handle times when our "brother sins against" us. In Matthew 18:15, He tells us to talk to the person alone. But we often don't do that, do we? We talk to our friends about the person who made us angry but we don't confront them directly.

Maybe your way of dealing with anger is to ignore the person you're angry with.

But that doesn't address the problem either.

As long as we refuse to manage our anger and address the problem head on with the person involved, we'll continue to allow our anger to get in the way of a deeper relationship with God.
